THE COMMUNITY
Falcon, Colorado, just east of Colorado Springs, is a popular community for new
homeowners. Meridian Ranch is a 2,500-acre Master Planned Community surrounded by a
new world-class golf course, away from the stress of the city, yet close enough to be
convenient. Strong community theme and standards, a planned recreation and family
fitness center, a growing number of convenience shopping facilities and larger lots
with great home prices add to the allure of the area. Meridian Ranch has recently started
Antler Creek Golf Course that will be 8,100 yards in length making this perhaps the
longest golf course in the Nation. 18 holes should be completed by spring of
2004 with room for an additional 9 holes. This course will have a clubhouse,
restaurant and pro shop.
SCHOOLS
Falcon School District 49 students post some of the highest SAT and ACT scores in
the region, well above the nation average. As one of the smaller districts in the region,
Falcons student-to-teacher ratio is one of the lowest. Children in Meridian Ranch
attend the new Woodmen Hills Elementary School, Falcon Middle School and Falcon High
School.
EMPLOYMENT
Meridian Ranch is about 10 miles from Peterson Air Force Base via Highway 24 and a
non-congested drive to Schriever Air Force Base and the Space Command Center. Numerous
industrial facilities and business centers along Highway 24 and Powers Boulevard also
provide many job opportunities. Meridian Ranch is within 20 minutes of I-25 and the over
18 national and international corporations located along Highway 83 and the Briargate
Business Campus. Residents find trouble-free commuting to almost any business center in
the Pikes Peak region and even Denver.
SHOPPING AND SERVICES
The opening of a new Falcon Town Center, located near the junction of Woodmen Rd.
and Hwy. 24, speaks well of the growth of the Falcon area. The center features a new
Safeway store, a gas station and bank facility. Falcon also offers numerous other
convenience shopping facilities. Access to Powers Blvd., about 10 miles away opens up a
world of shopping opportunities. The Chapel Hills Mall, one of the regions main centers,
is about 15 miles from Meridian Ranch.
PARKS AND RECREATION
Certainly one of the main attractions of Meridian Ranch is the relaxed lifestyle and the
abundance of recreational opportunities starting with a new world-class recreation and
fitness center to be built right in the community. The center will feature an indoor
swimming pool, an outdoor playground and much more. A new 12-acre county park
opened, with picnic areas, a pond and the trailhead for the Rock Island Trail
System that extends from Peyton through, and will eventually link to, Colorado
Springs. The trail is for hiking, biking and equestrians.
